• Project Goal :
  • To demonstrate the diversity and importance of West Bengal wetlands;
  • To show the variety of plants and animals that are dependant on the wetlands;
  • To raise awareness of how humans use West Bengal wetlands and have impacted upon them;
  • To illustrate the need to conserve wetlands
  • To generate a closer personal relationship between the visitor and the wetlands;
  • To provoke the visitor into considering how their actions impact on wetlands;
  • To provide opportunities for education and public awareness.

   “Awareness generation and community mobilization in East Kolkata Wetlands (EKW)  Area ”

    A detailed household survey was conducted for a data-based appraisal of the life – situation of the people living in the EKW area, the toilet facilities, water supply, roads, education, mode of income, livelihood, etc.
